What is the Logentries REST Query API?

Our new RESTful Query API provides a powerful way for your users and systems to programmatically query log data without accessing the Logentries user interface.

Any query you would normally enter into the Logentries query bar can be submitted to the API. Your request will return calculated results or lists of log events as a JSON object.

Benefits of the Logentries REST Query API:

  • Querying and analyzing your Logentries data programmatically
  • Quickly retrieving easy-to-use JSON objects that represent your calculation or search query results
  • Easy integration of your Logentries data with internal or third party applications
  • Authorization tools that allow you to control access levels and easily regenerate API keys

How to get started

First, sign into you Logentries account or create a free trial.

Next, click on the profile icon in the left-hand navigation bar and then choose Accounts.

Now click on the Api Keys tab.

If you have not previously generated any API keys for your account, you can do so by clicking the “generate” link for the type of key you want to use.

Now that you have an API key you are off to a great start!
